School Board May Cut Ties With Charter School

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County School Board will vote Tuesday on whether to sever its ties with a troubled charter school.

Summit Charter School in Maitland teaches children with learning disabilities. WFTV first reported in 2008 when the director and principal were accused of using school money for their personal expenses.

The school board says the problems at Summit have continued over the past few years. It says, last month, the board of directors discovered that school employees were not being paid.

The school district's contract with Summit runs through 2015, but board members want to end the contract immediately.
