Seminole man who did prison time for junk in yard faces more trouble

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla.,None — One of Seminole County's worst code violation offenders is at it again, according to Seminole County deputies.

Alan Davis has battled the county for years.

In January, the county told Davis to get rid of the junk cars covering his lawn or face possible criminal charges.

But Davis believes he may have found a way to keep deputies from taking those cars.

The county said Davis is violating ordinances. Davis said that leaving the cars on his lawn is his constitutional right.

WFTV reporter Tim Barber mentioned to Davis that Davis’ neighbors were upset with the junk on his lawn

"I don't care. They can buy it just like anybody else," said Davis.

Davis has been arrested three times, and spent more than four years in jail over similar issues. Deputies said he could go back to court on felony littering charges if he doesn't clean the yard.

"Why would you go to jail for four or five years for this?" Barber asked Davis.

"Well, because I wouldn't back down. That was the whole thing.  I wouldn't back down," said Davis.

Davis' neighbors would not go on camera, but deputies said they're fuming.

This year, after code enforcement gave Davis two warnings, deputies tried to tidy up the yard themselves by towing some vehicles they suspected were inoperable. But they couldn’t move them because cars that appear to be in good condition are blocking them.  If they are not illegal the county cannot touch them.

It's just one more protest for Davis, who also recently built a sculpture of a rear end to send a message. He said he is still working on plans for another one.

"Oh no, I'm long from done," said Davis.
