Store Clerk Caught Stealing Lottery Tickets

KISSIMMEE, Fla.,None — A former manager of a Kissimmee Kangaroo convenience store is accused of stealing $7,000 by scanning scratch-off lottery tickets.

Jacqueline Mesha Gotto turned herself in to the Kissimmee Police Department Friday morning.

Investigators say she spent the majority of her time on the clock at work scanning the tickets.

Police say since last November, Gotto pocketed approximately $7,000 in lottery winnings, and now the store is out about $11,000 in revenue.

In the store's surveillance video, Gotto could be heard getting excited about winning.

"Woo-hoo, another $20," said Gotto in the surveillance video.

"Basically scanning the lottery ticket to see if it was a winner and if it was, she was cashing in the proceeds. If it wasn't, because it's already been scanned, it can't be resold," said Stacie Miller, Kissimmee Police Department.

Gotto has been transported to the Osceola County jail where she is being held on $1,000 bond.
