METAIRIE, La. — Residents in one Louisiana town could hardly believe what they were seeing when an alligator popped a grated cover of a storm drain and slithered onto the street.
The incident took place on Monday in Metairie, according to WWL. Witnesses said that the approximately 7-foot-long alligator emerged from the storm drain after heavy rains moved through the area.

The alligator's location was adjacent to an elementary school, but students are on spring break.
Wildlife professionals arrived on the scene to wrangle the alligator, which was feisty, according to video recorded at the scene.
The alligator was eventually secured and relocated.
