TUALATIN, Ore. — Forget the typical jack-o’-lantern, pumpkins in Oregon are turned into boats for the annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta.
Pumpkins are carved into boats and competitors dress up for the yearly race, KPTV reported.
The racers come from all over Oregon, as well as the rest of the U.S. and even Canada.
The pumpkins are grown by the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers.
The regatta isn’t the only event in Tualatin to celebrate fall.
There's also traditional pie-eating contests, costume contests and a scavenger hunt.
There is also a 5k Regatta Run that serves as a fundraiser for a scholarship in honor of a fallen soldier, Matthew Lembke, who was killed during his third tour in Afghanistan, Patch.com reported.
