Animal welfare group BAD RAP posted the news on Facebook, saying Frodo, a pit bull estimated to be 15 years old, died. Frodo was one of 48 dogs rescued in 2007. The group described the dog as having transitioned, passing over “to be with the rest of the dogs from the group.”

BAD RAP said just days before Frodo’s death, another of the surviving dogs named Jonny Justice also died. In the post, it said both dogs lived long pampered lives in the years since 2007.

Michael Vick was arrested in the spring of 2007, after a police raid on his Bad Newz Kennels found malnourished and injured dogs chained in the woods of Virginia, People Magazine reported. Vick served 18 months in prison, and since his release has worked on behalf of animal rights.
