MARION, Ohio — An Ohio father and his girlfriend are behind bars following the death of a Marion toddler, authorities said.

According to WCMH, Marion police arrested Shaquille Cochran, 27, and his girlfriend, Angel Morgan, 23, on Tuesday, two days after the death of Cochran's 3-year-old son, Kashon. Cochran and Morgan each face a charge of second-degree child endangerment in the case, the Marion Star reported.

Police and fire officials said they responded early Sunday to a call about a child who wasn't breathing at a Bennett Street home, according to the news outlets. Crews rushed the child to an area hospital, where he later died, authorities said.

Investigators determined that the boy "did have injuries that led to his death," Marion police Maj. Jay McDonald told the Star. No further details were immediately available.

Cochran and Morgan were booked at the Multi-County Correctional Center and are due to appear in court July 17, the Star reported.
