Using deception and under cover of darkness, thieves broke into a ninja museum in central Japan Monday morning and left with a million yen.
The thieves broke into the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum, a popular tourist attraction, around 1:30 a.m. They forced open the entrance and left with the safe which was filled the equivalent of $9,470, BBC reported.
The money was the admission fees for about 1,100 visitors to the museum, Kyodo News reported.
Surveillance video shows a car pull up, CBC reported. A man gets out of the passenger side, walks toward the camera and tilts the lens toward the ground.
The Iga was a famous ninja clan during feudal Japan. The Iga museum is dedicated to its history and offers interactive experiences including ninja performances and weapons demonstrations.
