According to KNXV, on Thursday around 12 p.m., Phoenix firefighters were called out to the Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain after reports of at least 11 people who needed medical attention. When crews arrived, they located the women who were part of a large women’s retreat that started up on the trail at around 7 a.m.

The retreat consisted of a group of women from Alabama, California and Tennessee who were in Phoenix filming for a documentary called “Bad Girls Gone God.” According to KSAZ, the documentary is about embarking on challenging activities to get closer to God.

According to KSAZ, the group apparently told fire crews that they didn’t do their research before embarking on the hike during the hottest months of the year in Arizona. Some of the hikers experienced dizziness.

Multiple hikers were wheeled down and two were taken down by helicopter. Three others were in stable condition, according to KSAZ.

Three women were taken to the hospital, KNXV said.
