WFTV presents $40,000 to Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

Fortune was calling today, WHEEL OF FORTUNE that is! Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network Hospitals was named a recipient of a donation from Wheel of Fortune's Secret Santa Sweepstakes back in December. Today, WFTV-Channel 9 Eyewitness News Anchor Vanessa Echols was on hand at Arnold Palmer Medical Center to present the check on behalf of Wheel of Fortune and WFTV.

It all started when two lucky WFTV viewers who are also Wheel Watchers Club members saw their spin ID numbers reavealed on the show. Not only did they win the same cash and prizes as two in-show contestants, but they also became Secret Santas to one of Greater Orlando’s Children Miracle Network Hospitals, Arnold Palmer Medical Center.

Little Ashton and his family were there to share their story about how Arnold Palmer Medical Center and the NICU staff saved Ashton's life when he was born at just 23 weeks. He spent over 100 days in the hospital and is a thriving young man today because of the talented staff at the hospital and support from Children's Miracle Network.

About Children's Miracle Network Hospitals:

Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion—most of it $1 at a time—for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Our mission: We increase funds and awareness for local children’s hospitals. Our vision: Together we save kids’ lives.Right now there’s a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital working to save the lives of kids in your community. In fact, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute — that's one child every second. Some are battling cancer. Some are suffering from a traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease. Regardless of why the kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals always have their doors open.
