ORLANDO, Fla. — A woman who was struck by metal scaffolding during an industrial accident has died, Orlando police told WFTV on Wednesday.
Police said Tracy Irwin, 53, was struck with metal scaffolding, which fell from a forklift near the loading dock at the Amway Arena on West Amelia Street (see map) around 10:00am on Tuesday. Irwin was working for an independent contractor for Cirque du Soleil.
She was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Irwin was pronounced dead shortly before 1:00am.
Police said they reported the incident to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
