ORLANDO, Fla. — The following is a press release from UCF Athletics:

UCF BASEBALL CONTINUES CLIMB IN NATIONAL POLLS

The Knights are top 10 in two national polls

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – The UCF baseball team's climb in the national rankings continued Monday as it surged seven spots to No. 7 in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' poll and jumped two more spots to No. 8 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association rankings.

The Knights (34-8, 12-3) tied the highest ranking in school history Monday as they were slotted at No. 7 in 2001 by Baseball America prior to the NCAA Columbia Regional.

Monday also saw UCF climb to No. 11, up one spot from last week, in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper standings.

With the sweep of Florida Atlantic at home and Tulane on the road this past week, the Knights also moved up a tick to No. 14 in the Baseball America rankings. UCF has appeared in each Baseball America poll since its No. 21 preseason ranking and joins Rice (No. 6) as the only two teams in Conference USA to appear in the standings.

In the upcoming weekend series with Memphis, the team will honor those who have served our country and fought for our freedom at Friday’s Military Appreciation Night game.

Active duty, retired and civilian military personnel will receive free admission to the 6:30 p.m. game by showing their military ID, and they also will receive one complimentary ticket to the game. Tickets can be picked up on game day starting at 5 p.m. at the UCF baseball complex. Free parking will be available in the baseball lot and in lots E6, E7 and E8 next to Bright House Networks Stadium.

The baseball team will continue its series against Memphis at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for staff and faculty members, youths and seniors are only $5, and UCF students are always admitted free.
