I-4 reopened after semi crash blocked all westbound lanes for 5 hours

ORLANDO, Fla. — UPDATE: Lanes reopened on Interstate 4 westbound as of 10:55 a.m.

A flatbed truck turned on its side blocking all lanes of westbound Interstate 4 at Orange Blossom Trail Tuesday morning causing delays that could last until noon.

The load of metal roofing materials that the truck was carrying spilled across the highway.

OPD said the truck struck a barrier wall near OBT, causing the truck to lose control and flip on its side blocking all lanes of traffic. Police said the people riding in the truck cab had minor injuries, but were not transported to the hospital.

According to the Orlando Police Department, witnesses said the truck may have been driving over the speed limit and its load could have been top heavy to one side.

The crash happened around 6 a.m.

The Orlando Police Department said it also shut down the Interstate 4 entrance ramps from State Road 408 to limit the amount of traffic flowing on to I-4 westbound.
