20 homes damaged as record rainfall, possible tornado rips through Vero Beach

Severe thunderstorms moved over Vero Beach on Tuesday afternoon, possibly producing a tornado that left 20 homes damaged, cars with damage and many trees down.

Lots of flooding reports were also streaming in on social media. The National Weather Service office in Melbourne reported a new record rainfall in Vero Beach of 9.78 inches through 7 p.m., making it the wettest day in the city's history.
