MIAMI — Jose became a hurricane Wednesday afternoon.
Jose formed as a tropical storm Tuesday morning and will remain in the Atlantic away from land, according to certified Meteorologist Irene Sans.
Jose is located to the east of Hurricane Irma, which is a powerful and dangerous Category 5 storm heading north of Puerto Rico.

Jose is the 15th named storm of a very busy Atlantic hurricane season. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (65 kph). It is moving west-northwest at 16 mph.

No warnings are in effect due to Jose.
