ORLANDO, Fla. — On Sunday, an Orlando hotel began offering previously sold out guest rooms for evacuees looking to wait out Hurricane Irma in safety.
The Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando, at 9840 International Drive, made 30 rooms available at a special discounted rate for those affected by Irma.
Rosen Hotels and Resorts, which operates seven hotel properties in Orlando, have been completely booked for several days in anticipation of the storm.
The properties have been receiving about 3,000 calls per day from people requesting rooms, said Rosen spokeswoman Mary Deatrick. According to Deatrick, many of the people requesting rooms are either locals or those fleeing from Tampa.
The rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis, and are available until they are sold out. The rooms are $59 per night, and pets are welcome at no additional fee.
