Tropical Depression 6 has formed in the Atlantic Ocean and may become Tropical Storm Fay soon

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical Depression 6 has formed in the Atlantic Ocean and could strengthen into Tropical Storm Fay later Saturday or overnight.

Forecasters expect the system’s life cycle to be short, with the depression remaining weak as it moves over open water during the next several days.

No impacts to land are currently expected.

If the system reaches tropical-storm strength, it would receive the name, Fay.
