FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. — It’s going to be a long process of repairs for people who live along Flagler Beach.

Hurricane Matthew destroyed homes and a large portion of A1A.

Rick and Judy Rum-Ford were the lucky ones at Surfside Estates, with a home basically unscathed by Hurricane Matthew after its winds tore through neighbors' homes.

Channel 9's Angela Jacobs found some of the worst damage was at the Beverly Beach mobile home park where more than 50 percent of the 100 homes were destroyed.

“Oh I feel horrible for people. What a shame,” Rick Rum-Ford said.

“People that live in here aren't loaded with money to go and do this, that and the other thing. So it's going to be difficult for some of them,” Rum-Ford said.

A few miles south, Cheryl Combee hunkered down during the hurricane.

“I'm not sure I'd do it again, or not. It's very scary. You don't know what's going to happen, you're risking your life,” Combee said.

There is still no electricity on the island.
