Seminole County ends curfew for residents after Hurricane Matthew

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County officials ended a mandatory curfew for residents Friday, now that Hurricane Matthew is moving north.

Seminole County residents were under a curfew from 5 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday as Hurricane Matthew moved along the Florida coast.

The curfew ended at 2 p.m., officials said.

Officials said that “although the curfew has been lifted, we strongly encourage residents to remain off the roads and highways. Many roadways have flooding or obstructions. Traffic lights may be down due to power outages.”

County officials said motorists should approach intersections with caution. If a traffic signal is not functioning at an intersection, it should be treated as a four-way stop.

Officials said drivers should come to a complete stop, and then yield to the vehicle that arrived first.

Motorists should never drive through standing water, officials said.
