Seminole County judge orders ‘junk man' held without bail

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — An Altamonte Springs resident known as the “junk man” faced a Seminole County judge Friday on a probation violation charge.

Alan Davis was arrested Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest for failing to clean up his property, deputies said.

Davis will be held without bail because of the probation violation, the judge ruled.

Davis was ordered by a judge in February as part of a plea agreement to clean up his property within 60 days. He was supposed to get rid of junk vehicles and excess trash, as well as tear down a shed in the yard and a rooftop platform, but he didn’t comply, investigators said.

Davis demanded during Friday's hearing that the judge order prosecutors to hand over paperwork related to the case.

“I want a copy of the contract that I filed and where I agreed to follow county code,” Davis said.

The judge told Davis to take it up with the previous judge. He’s scheduled to meet with Judge Marlene Alva on May 8.

"It's not going to do any good for the rest of this neighborhood with him in jail. They need to do something about that place. Condemn it. Bulldoze it down. Control burn, whatever," said neighbor Lynn Cochran.
