'You represent the best of America' says Hillary Clinton during concession speech

NEW YORK — To a cheering crowd, Hillary Clinton walked on stage at a New York hotel Wednesday, and began her concession speech by saying, "Thank you my friends. Thank you."

Clinton conceded to President-elect Donald Trump and spoke positively about the future of the nation.

“I hope that he will be a successful president,” Clinton said. “Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead.”%

But Clinton also talked about her disappointment.

“This is painful and it will be for a long time,” she said. “I am sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we had for this country.”

"We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought," Clinton said. "But I still believe in America and I always will."

Clinton thanked everyone who supported her campaign and said, “You represent the best of America.”

Clinton continued by saying, “Our campaign was never about one person or even one election. It was about America.”

Clinton also had a message to those whom she said were just starting their careers and fighting for their beliefs.

“Please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it,” she said.

Clinton ended her speech by saying, “I am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election. May God bless you, and may God bless America.”
