Turtle named ‘Spicy Hawaiian’ first Sea Turtle Healing Center patient of the year

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center welcomed its first patient of the year: a juvenile green sea turtle named “Spicy Hawaiian.”

Zoo officials said a boater found the turtle floating in the ocean near Port Canaveral.

The care team said it is working to determine what is causing Spicy Hawaiian’s symptoms, which include lethargy, stiffness and a lack of appetite.

Spicy Hawaiian is on fluids and medications to make them more comfortable.

The Sea Turtle Healing Center cares for around 70 turtles a year.
