ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are investigating the death of a 52-year-old woman who was shot and killed Thursday, resulting in a crash that shut down West Colonial Drive for three hours on Thursday.

The shooting was reported at about 5:30 p.m. at West Colonial Drive near Mercy Drive, Orlando police Lt. Philip Maio said.

Police said Robin Jean Roundtree, 52, was the only person inside her car as she traveled eastbound on West Colonial Drive near Ferguson Drive. Her car entered the median and crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash, police said Friday.

Witnesses told Channel 9 that a woman was shot at a different location, but police have not addressed that claim.

When officers and paramedics responded to the scene, they realized Roundtree had been shot. She  was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Maio said.

West Colonial Drive was closed from Mercy Drive to North John Young Parkway while detectives investigated the shooting. It reopened later Thursday night.

It's unknown what led up to the shooting.

No other details were given.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimeline at 407-423-8477.
