ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A blaze damaged at least 10 units Tuesday evening at an apartment complex in the Pine Hills neighborhood, Orange County Fire Rescue said.

Firefighters said they were called shortly after 7:45 p.m. to the Hibiscus Place apartments on Silver Star Road near North Hastings Street.

Officials said the fire might have ignited in an attic or ceiling. Firefighters remained at the complex through Wednesday morning to ensure the fire didn't rekindle.

Resident Chantal Pierre, who doesn't speak English, said through a translator that she wasn't home when the fire ignited, but her four children escaped the flames unharmed.

Pierre, who lost many of her possessions in the blaze, said she fears she could end up homeless because she doesn't have renter's insurance.

She returned to her charred home Wednesday morning to collect important documents, including passports, identification and credit/debit cards.

Property managers said most of units sustained water and smoke damage.

American Red Cross volunteers are assisting victims.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
