PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. — An alligator that attacked a woman while she was swimming in Brevard County on Saturday has been captured, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

FWC officials said the alligator is 8 feet six inches long and was found in a pond three miles west of Fay Lake Wilderness Park in Port St. John.

Officials said 26-year-old Melbourne resident Nichole Tilman was bitten by the alligator at about 2:40 p.m. while swimming and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A nuisance alligator trapper was contacted and was able to remove the alligator from the location.
