Flooding shuts down nine Space Coast transit routes in Melbourne and Palm Bay

Routes 26 and 29 remain exceptions to the South Brevard shutdown, with long delays expected on routes still operating

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Severe flooding has shut down nine Space Coast Area Transit routes in the Melbourne and Palm Bay area for Monday, Nov. 2, according to the agency’s rider alert.

Routes 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28 and 30 are out of service for the day. Routes 26 and 29 are the exceptions to the South Brevard service suspension, but riders should expect long delays on routes still operating.

The disruptions come as heavy rain brings flooding concerns across Central Florida.

Riders should expect delays

Space Coast Area Transit attributed the suspensions to severe flooding and warned of long delays on all other routes.

Passengers should check the agency’s rider alert system for service updates before traveling.

Flooding affects roads and schools

West Melbourne police urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel Monday morning after flooding left vehicles stranded and forced road closures.

Brevard County schools also canceled Monday classes because of the weather and flooding.
