Mothers rally to stop gun violence in Daytona Beach

, Fla. — A group of mothers is demanding people in Daytona Beach put down their guns.

Each of the women has lost a child or a grandchild to gun violence. On Thursday, they wanted to show support for the three victims who were shot and killed Wednesday.

It’s the latest in a string of nearly a dozen deadly shootings in the city so far this year.

The same group took to the streets of Daytona Beach less than two weeks ago, marching alongside law enforcement and calling for the violence to stop.

The mothers said they want local leaders and police to step up and do something, but also understand that people in the community need to mee them halfway.

The group said they also plan to be at next week’s commission meeting to make their voices heard.
