VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Post are circulating all over social media of people claiming they canceled their COVID-19 test but still received a call saying they were positive.

Holly Smith, with the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County, said she’s heard of the posts, but the department hasn’t had anyone provide evidence of it happening in the county.

“I have asked many people to give me to give me information to tell me who are you and let us look in the system, and no one wants to come forward for us to investigate to find out what’s happening,” she said.

Health officials said it is possible the posts could be from people trying to scam people or a social media hoax that is circulating online.
