Florida surpasses 400K cases of coronavirus, reports 136 new deaths

ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials reported 12,444 additional cases of COVID-19 Friday, causing the total number of positive test results to climb to 402,312 since testing began earlier this year.

Another 136 deaths were recorded statewide, pushing Florida’s coronavirus-related death toll to 5,768.

The recently reported deaths involved 43 Central Florida residents, including 12 in Polk County, eight in Orange County, five in Marion County, four each in Seminole, Volusia and Brevard counties, three in Sumter County, two in Osceola County and one in Lake County.

To date, The Florida Department of Health has reported 2,874,324 negative COVID-19 tests results, including the additional 53,250 that were noted in Friday’s data.
