Protesters are calling for change throughout Central Florida after George Floyd, an unarmed black man, was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis.

On Wednesday afternoon, protests took place in several cities, including Clermont and DeLand.

“I really hope this would be the last straw. We just can’t continue this. We just can’t. So that’s why I’m here,” said Kathleen Cormock, a protester.

Police worried that outside groups might try to infiltrate the protest and cause problems but both protests were peaceful.

“There’s a message that needs to be sent but not with anger, and that’s what we have been seeing across the nation, where the message is being missed because of the anger,” said Andrea Mckinney, a protest organizer.
