SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County leaders are working to get the COVID-19 vaccine to as many people as possible.
On Monday, county leaders explained how they’re targeting people in the Hispanic and Latin communities, where language has been a barrier.

Of the county’s population, 11% are Latin-Hispanic.
The county distributed 500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Forrest Lake Seventh Day Adventist Spanish Church in unincorporated Apopka.

“It’s very important for us, for individuals, to be able to relate to each other to be able to communicate with each other; get the factual information from trusted sources, the people they work with, the people they have fellowship with, people they worship with. And this has really worked in this point of dispensing,” Seminole County Emergency Management Director Alan Harris said.
Now the county is planning similar distribution events for other segments of the population including a Baptist church, a Hindu temple, a mosque and the Sikh Society.
