SANFORD, Fla. — A 28-year-old man accused of hitting a Sanford woman with a vehicle, checking on her condition and driving away bonded out of jail early Tuesday, records said.
William Carr was arrested late Monday, hours after police said he hit Jo'Nytranna Young on West 24th Street near Hartwell Avenue in Sanford while she was walking to work.
Carr, who was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injuries, was freed from the John E. Polk Correctional Facility after paying $15,000 in bail.

"She should’ve told the truth. I helped her," Carr told Channel 9 while walking away from the jail. "She said she was OK."
Young told Channel 9 Tuesday that she couldn't believe the suspect was freed from jail. She said she was worried for others' safety.
The mother of a 5-month-old boy said the man seemed concerned about her injuries at first.

She said he tried to lift her up, but when she started repeating his license plate number, he dropped her on the ground, got into the vehicle and drove away.
"He left me," Young said. "I had to crawl back to my house."
Young said the crash left her with a broken leg and a swollen eye, which required 10 stitches.

"I want justice," she said. "That's all I want, because that's inhumane for somebody to just hit you and ride off."
A Channel 9 legal analyst said that if Carr is convicted of the third-degree felony, he could be fined $5,000 and sentenced to a 5-year probation term.
"It will be settled in court," Carr said.
