Universal to close several attractions to make room for ‘exciting new family entertainment’

ORLANDO, Fla. — Several beloved attractions at Universal Studios are set to permanently close in a few months, the resort announced Tuesday evening.

The following attractions will close Jan. 16, with the last day of operation being Jan. 15:

  • Fievel’s Playland
  • Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster
  • Curious George Goes to Town
  • DreamWorks Destination
  • Shrek and Donkey‘s Meet and Greet

The closings will make room for “exciting new family entertainment ... that will immerse guests in the adventures of beloved animated characters.”

Adjacent attractions The E.T. Adventure; Animal Actors on Location!; SpongeBob StorePants, including meet-and-greets with SpongeBob SquarePants and friends; and KidZone Pizza Company will remain open, Universal said.

More details about the new experiences will be announced in the months ahead, Universal said.
