ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies found Elfriede Assendorf suffering from a gunshot wound Thursday in her home at 2721 Ingeborg Court in Windermere.

Assendorf was taken to Health Central Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Deputies said they attempted to arrest the accused gunman on Friday at Lime Avenue and South Street when, they said, he had a weapon, so they shot him.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said the accused gunman's girlfriend is the daughter of Assendorf.
Two deputies have been placed on routine administrative leave after the shooting of the gunman.
No other information has been released.
