SANFORD, Fla. — A national nonprofit is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the Sanford shooting that injured eight people.
The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, also known as The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, announced the reward Monday as Sanford police continue searching for the person or people responsible.
Reward offered for information
The foundation said the reward is available for credible information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting.
Anyone with information can contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crimeline.
The reward is subject to the nonprofit’s eligibility requirements, verification process and final determination after legal proceedings are completed.
Eight people injured in shooting
The shooting happened Saturday night near Poplar Avenue and Ninth Street during a family gathering.
Eight people were injured.
As of Monday, five victims had been treated and released from the hospital. Three remained hospitalized, including two in critical condition and one in stable condition.
Sanford police said the motive remains unknown and investigators are still working to identify the suspect or suspects.
No arrests had been announced as of the latest update.
Nonprofit also offering support
The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation said it is also providing 24-hour support to victims, families, witnesses and others affected by the shooting.
The organization said assistance may include crisis intervention, victim and family advocacy, referrals and help connecting people with longer-term resources.
The investigation remains ongoing.
