LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — One Lincoln University student died, and two others were injured Wednesday night in a stabbing reported inside a dormitory at the school, authorities said.
The Chester County District Attorney’s Office identified the slain student as 21-year-old Jawine Evans, WTXF-TV reported.
“Three students at Lincoln University were stabbed during a fight in one of the dorms,” District Attorney Deb Ryan told WTXF. “One student … died at the scene. Two others were taken to Christiana Hospital where they were treated and released.”
Video obtained by KYW-TV showed several people involved in the brawl, which happened around 9:30 p.m. in a hallway at Lincoln University’s Thurgood Marshall Living Learning Center.
The circumstances leading up to the fight remained unclear Friday.
In a statement obtained by WPVI-TV, Lincoln University officials said they were “deeply saddened” by Wednesday night’s incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” the statement said. “We take the safety of our students seriously and are working with local authorities as there is an ongoing investigation.”
Authorities continue to investigate.
