NEW YORK — The Christmas tree that will stand in the middle of New York City’s Rockefeller Center for the 2021 holiday season will come from Maryland.
The 79-foot tall Norway spruce was grown in Elkton, Maryland, and is approximately 85 years old. According to NBC New York, in past years, trees have come from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The tree is due to arrive in New York City on Saturday, Nov. 13. Crews will string more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights on the tree, which will be lit for the season on Dec. 1.
The tree has been a Rockefeller Center tradition since 1931.
