A worker got quite a surprise when he arrived at a home to install window blinds.
An 11- to 12-foot long alligator had staked a claim to the new home’s master bedroom in the Babcock Ranch area near Fort Myers, Florida, The Miami Herald reported.
The gator was in a corner of the room.
The newspaper said homes in the region go for as much as $1.5 million. It’s doubtful that you get a free pet for that price, however.
Workers had to remove the sliding glass panels so the gator could be removed by two professional trappers.
Once the alligator calmed down, and after a few death rolls, it took three men to load it into a vehicle to be taken away.
Matthew Goodwin, the home’s project manager, told the Herald he believes the gator went inside through a laundry room door trying to get warm as a cold front moved in.
“The wind closed the door and he was trapped. He went into every room and made his mark,” Goodwin told the Herald.
Jennifer Seward-Goodwin said the gator was found on March 14 and it caused about $2,500 in damages, WFTX reported.
