JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was a buzzworthy event for drivers in Jacksonville stuck in traffic.
The Florida Highway Patrol said bees escaped from a hive transport truck after being caught in traffic due to an earlier crash in Jacksonville during Wednesday’s evening rush hour.
Officials told ActionNewsJax that when beehives are transported by vehicle, the hives themselves are not fully sealed. The bees stay inside during transit due to the movement of the vehicle. Car exhaust fumes or the multitude of cars may have caused the bees to leave the hives and swarm nearby vehicles, ActionNewsJax reported.
No injuries were reported, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
