OTTUMWA, Iowa — A man from Iowa allegedly shot his sleeping wife with a crossbow on Wednesday, according to police.
According to KCRG, Ottumwa Police Department responded to a call just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday at a house where a woman was believed to have been shot with a crossbow.
The woman was identified as Lillian Dennison, 68, by OPD in a news release. She was shot with a crossbow while she was sleeping on the couch inside the house. According to OPD, she had minor injuries but was taken to a hospital and has since been released.
Her husband, George Edward Dennison, 68, was arrested later Wednesday morning at around 10 a.m., OPD said. He was arrested in a wooded area in Ottumwa.
OPD said that George has been charged with an attempt to commit murder and domestic abuse assault. He is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
No further information has been released.
