Investigators identified the driver as Pearl Angob, 27, according to KLAS-TV. Police arrested her after she allegedly drove a black 2016 Toyota Corolla off South Eastern Avenue near Silverado Ranch Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. Thursday and struck a person lying in landscaping at a nearby business.

The person, who was not immediately identified, died of their injuries, police said. They will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin have been notified, KVVU-TV reported.

Investigators said Angob remained at the scene after the crash. She told police that she fell asleep behind the wheel, according to an arrest report obtained by KSNV. In the report, authorities noted that one of the officers who responded to the crash “smelled a strong odor of alcohol emitting from Angob’s breath,” KSNV reported.

Officials transported Angob to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities subsequently booked her into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence resulting in a death and failure to maintain her lane, according to police and jail records.
