A Pennsylvania woman was mauled by Great Danes, dogs she had been asked to care for while her neighbor was away.
Kristin Potter was attacked by the dogs last week after she had been asked to feed the animals while their owners were away, something that she had done before, WGAL reported.
She was accompanied by her young son at the time.
“He was present at the scene, but I don’t think he was there for much of it. As soon as he saw the dogs starting to attack his mother, he ran across the road to have his brother call 911,” Perry County Coroner Robert Ressler told WGAL.
Ressler ruled Potter’s death as accidental, Penn Live reported. He found she died of multiple traumatic injuries.
The coroner said that emergency personnel were not able to reach the woman when they arrived because of the dogs, and animal control had to tranquilize two of the dogs before they were taken to a veterinarian and euthanized, The Associated Press reported. There was a third dog that did not take part in the attack.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
