ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 43-year-old Orlando man died Friday evening after the car he was driving plunged into a retention pond in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported shortly before 9 p.m. at Isle of Wright Drive near South Orange Blossom Trail and West Wetherbee Road, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said.
Luis Melendez Morales struck a bus stop bench before plunging into the water, Montes said.
The car will be pulled from the water Saturday, investigators said.

Troopers said Morales was taken to Florida Hospital Kissimmee, where he died.
The crash remains under investigation.
