ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida’s average price for regular unleaded gas has dropped about 30 cents over the past week to $4.23 per gallon, according to AAA.
The decline comes after prices climbed to a four-month high of $4.42 in late September, and several Central Florida metro areas are now hovering near — or just below — the $4 mark.
Where Central Florida stands
Prices vary a bit depending on where you fill up:
- Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford: $4.05 to $4.15 per gallon
- Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater: $4.02 to $4.12 per gallon
- Lakeland–Winter Haven: $4.08 to $4.15 per gallon
- Melbourne–Titusville–Palm Bay: $4.10 to $4.18 per gallon
- Daytona Beach–Deltona: $4.12 to $4.20 per gallon
Orlando remains one of the more affordable spots in the state, with recent AAA data showing the metro average around $3.99 — below the statewide mark.

Why prices dropped
The recent relief follows a rough September, when international conflicts disrupted global oil production and pushed prices higher. With crude oil prices easing, energy markets have cooled and pump prices have followed.
AAA updates its state and metro gas price averages daily, so local prices can shift from one day to the next.
What it means for drivers
For now, the trend is good news for commuters, families planning weekend trips, and anyone keeping an eye on their fuel budget. While Florida’s average is still above $4, the week’s sharp drop could mean more savings if the downward trend continues.
