ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida drivers are still paying some of the state’s highest gas prices, with regular unleaded averaging $4.37 a gallon in Orange, Osceola, Polk and Marion counties.

Seminole, Volusia and Lake counties are close behind at $4.35 a gallon. Brevard County has the region’s lowest average at $4.31 — but drivers there are still paying well above $4 a gallon.

Drivers may want to fill up before the weekend. Gas prices briefly dipped statewide this week, but industry analysts warn another increase could be ahead as oil prices fluctuate.

Here’s a quick look at the current average gas prices in different counties: Orange, Osceola, Polk and Marion are at $4.37, while Seminole, Volusia, and Lake are a little lower at $4.35. Brevard is at $4.31.

The pain at the pump is also showing up at the grocery store and food banks. Higher fuel costs are raising the expense of delivering food, while more Central Florida families seek assistance.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which serves seven counties including Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Brevard, says higher fuel costs are adding strain as demand grows.
