Osceola County woman scratches her way to $1M lottery prize

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A Kissimmee woman who took a chance on a scratch-off lottery ticket ended up turning $5 into a million bucks.

Racquel Maxey, 41, recently claimed her $1 million prize in Tallahassee, Florida Lottery officials said.

Maxey’s riches came after she stopped into a convenience store and bought a Gold Rush Doubler scratch-off ticket.

The game features 28 top prizes of $1 million.

Maxey uncovered one of those million-dollar prizes on the ticket that she purchased from 7-Eleven at 4015 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.

The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling her the winning ticket, lottery officials said.

Maxey chose to receive her  winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $685,000.
