SANFORD, Fla. — A possible sinkhole caused traffic delays near Sanford last week.
Officials said only one lane on south U.S. 17/92 was open for after work crews discovered a depression in the southbound lanes on Friday. A second lane reopened early Monday morning.
"One of our project managers for this project was driving by and noticed the road was starting to dip," said FDOT spokesperson Steve Olson on Friday.

Crews put a hold on construction, drilling holes into the road so they could send probes down and look at what was going on below the road.
FDOT said they found loose soil underneath the road. Crews brought in machines to inject cement into the holes to fill the gaps to prevent the soil from unsettling more.
"It if wasn't detected, one day something could have happened that could have caused bodily harm," said insurance agency manager Jose Ortiz.
Drivers were shifted to the left lane, and Sanford Avenue was being used as an alternate route.
FDOT said this is the third time they have had issues with the soil in this area of the widening project.
Officials said drivers can expect periodic lane restrictions in the area for future road work.
