ORANGE CITY, Fla. — A 14-year-old girl was fatally struck early Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash, the Orange City Police Department said.
Danielle Llwellyn was found lying next to a skateboard shortly before 2:15 a.m. on South Volusia Avenue south of Enterprise Road, Orange City police Lt. Jason Sampsell said.
An officer performed CPR on Llwellyln, but firefighters pronounced her dead, Sampsell said.

Investigators said a woman called police about 15 minutes later to report that a vehicle might have hit an animal.
Police said Walter Gunther's girlfriend called 911 claiming they hit an animal also. Police later determined Gunther was the only person in the car and the 30-year-old later admitted to driving a van with a suspended driver's license.
He was arrested at police headquarters after being interviewed, Sampsell said.

Gunther was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and driving on a suspended driver's license. He was freed from jail late Tuesday after paying $16,000 in bail.
Gunther had his license suspended indefinitely on Jan. 21, 2014. records showed.
Gunther's wife was arrested Aug. 8 and faces charges of accessory after the fact to first degree felony.
Police said she initially told officers she was driving the car instead of her husband.
The crash remains under investigation.
