Phylicia Ashley is a reporter at Channel 9.
She was born and raised in New York, where she got her start in news interning with Tom Brokaw, The TODAY Show, Dateline, CNN, PBS and CNBC.
She lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for six months, where she became conversational in Spanish.
Prior to joining Channel 9, she worked as an anchor/reporter in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and as a reporter, anchor and host in Louisville, Kentucky, where she won two Emmys.
Phylicia has received recognition for her work in breaking and uncovering the Breonna Taylor case, which led to local and national law changes including the ban of no-knock warrants.
She also worked on multiple stories that led to legal changes related to violent offenders, mental health and incompetency.
Phylicia enjoys being a “Big Sister” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program.
When she’s not working, she enjoys walking with her dog, Ace Boogie, exploring local restaurants and traveling.
