More than 24,000 Floridians have died from COVID-19 complications, records show

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 12,119 more COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

Of the new cases reported, 2,665 were in Central Florida. Orange County recorded the most cases with 813.

State records show 1,560,186 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

Health officials also reported 211 new virus-related deaths on Saturday, including six people who were not Florida residents.

Of the new deaths reported, 82 were in Central Florida. Lake County has reported 38 COVID-19-related deaths in the last 48 hours, with 28 on Saturday and ten on Friday.

State records show 24,380, people have died from COVID-19 complications in Florida since the state of the pandemic.

Florida also continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines across the state, with 88,313 more shots added in the last 24 hours.

State records show 937,630 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Florida.

Both vaccines in use require two shots for people to be fully vaccinated. Records show 87,074 people have gotten both shots, and 43,668 got their first but are currently overdue for the second.
